Al Gore's Son Busted for Drugs

Al Gore III, the son of Al and Tipper Gore, was busted in L.A. today for driving 100 miles per hour and drug possession.

He was taken into custody at 2:15 a.m. following a traffic stop:

A subsequent search yielded a small amount of marijuana, along with prescription drugs including Valium, Xanax, Vicodin and Adderall, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino. There were no prescriptions found, he said.

Gore was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and booked into the Inmate Reception Center in Santa Ana, about 34 miles south of Los Angeles, on $20,000 bail, he said.

Gore is not a first-time arrestee:

He was arrested in 2003 for marijuana possession and in 2002 for suspected drunken-driving.

He got pre-trial diversion back then, so he has no prior convictions.

He was put in a communal holding cell. The police say he's being treated the same as anyone else.

I hope he doesn't get the same "equal treatment" Paris Hilton got.

Yes, its electric motor has more torque. That by itself has nothing to do with speed.

I strongly suspect its "regular" fuel motor has low torque..

BTW - Unless you do a huge percentage of city driving the milage will be a disapppointment because the electric shuts down at highway speeds and turns it over to the gas engine which has good milage, but.... not enough to cover the price of the car..

I think you missed his point. The Prius is GOOD for city driving because the electric motor used more. Short trips, stop and go, that is good for a Prius.

However, long distance highway driving is bad because it uses the gas engine and doesn't take advantage of the hybrid features. If you are going to drive on the highway and want mileage, you might as well get a little car with a little 4 cylinder engine and save some money.

time. It isn't stopless driving in any way around here. One must be very patient traveling to and fro where I live. The countryside isn't even the countryside, it's more like suburbs.

I just might trade in my Ram 450 v-12 for one of them babies. I could speed everywhere; I just wouldn't be able to rumble over anyone.....bummer.

And for the record, Xanax, Valium (grouped together); Vicodin; Adderall - in different 'categories - interesting bundle of drugs.

Via Reuters:

Gore was still in custody as of mid-morning and was sharing a holding cell with an unknown number of people, said Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
"There are no special privileges," he told Reuters.

Guess that special privilege sh*t ended last week or thereabouts in Orange County.

I had no idea the goddamn things would go that fast. They certainly can't go up hills. Wouldn't catch me dead in one of those.

The lad also sounds a bit unbalanced. How hard is it to keep to the speed limit when you're holding? Poor bastard.

manic depressive that eventually had a child that was manic depressive too. My friend would go off of her meds when she was younger because I guess they aren't that much fun, and then she became real fun. I'm sort of betting that since Tipper is manic depressive it is likely that her son is too and with an assortment of uppers and downers like that and my experience with my friend who othewise didn't do many drugs when she didn't need them......self medication?

If Mr. Gore was driving too fast for conditions or recklessly, that's one thing, but 100 mph isn't necessarily a reason to stop him.

Arresting him for drugs will benefit all the special interests that are addicted to the financial benefits which flow from drug laws.

In addition to the money food that feeds so many special interests, the indirect benefits are just as important. Maybe not quite as much in this particular case, because Al Gore's son is unlikely to be or become enough of a threat to the "system" to warrant busting him as a way of marginalizing his views.

Well, it's nice to know that you can crank a Prius that fast, and it sounds like Al III had a pretty full spectrum of intoxicants, but driving and drugging puts other people at risk. The second time for him too. I suggest he get the Paris treatment (not the Scooter treatment).

I couldn't care less how high Al Gore the 3rd gets.
I also don't care if he drives 100 mph.
Wake me up if and when he hurts somebody.
